109.0. "PPT 4.0 vs PPR 95; conversion to HTML...confused." by TIANT::MANGARAJU () Sun May 25 1997 06:12

I am a little (or may be more than that) confused about the versions:

    	- what exactly is PowerPoint 95 ?

I have Powerpoint v 4.0 running on Windows 95 and WNT 4.0 and I am
trying to make use of the Internet assistant to convert my
    presentations to HTML format.

    Questions:

    1/	Is this version 4.0 on Windows 95, different from PowerPoint95 ?

2/	Can I make use of my version of PowerPoint for the "Conversion
    	to HTM" job ?

3/	I had downloaded PPTIA from microsoft's web-site onto my
    	WNT 4.0 server.
When I try to instal this, I get the following error:

Cannot find the Visual Basic add-ins for PowerPoint.
    		Please run PowerPoint setup again.

What should be my course of action ?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Raju,

Powerpoint 95 is the version that came with Office 95. In the
Microsoft world it's official version number is V7.0.

    http://www.microsoft.com/mspowerpoint/internet/ia/iafaq.htm confirms
that no version of the Powerpoint Internet assistant exists for
Powerpoint V4.0 or earlier due to Powerpoint architectural issues. You
will need to upgrade to at least Powerpoint V7.0.

    http://www-ccs.wro.dec.com/nt/Kits/Default.htm provides pointers to
locations from which you can download a copy of Office 97 (which
contains Powerpoint V8.0) and run it under FX!32 on Windows NT V4.0 -
that's what I am using on my NT system.
