437.0. "Process Name Search doesn't work" by TIMAMD::JCUENCA () Wed Jan 29 1997 10:19

Hello,

        when I start the DECamds console, "cannot find process" events appear
for several processes although they exists. After removing them from the Event
Log window, they don't appear again. If the event is not removed it dessapears
after few minutes. Also, if any of the searched process dies, DECamds doesn't
log the event.

        Configuration: DECamds Console running as detached process on a system,
named ENIA, showing the display on a VAXstation 3100 and collecting info from
DECamds Drivers installed on four VAX/VMS V6.1 systems:
        - Standalone System: ENIA (7610) # Console + Driver
        - Cluster VAXPRO:    OTTO (7620), LARIN (6620), RRINO (6610) # Drivers

        DECamds Console version: V6.2-03S
        DEcamds Drivers versions: V6.2-03S and V6.1-02F

        The files AMDS$node_PRCNAM_LIST.DAT have been populated with processes
using the editor (EDT) rather than the Motif window. Each file contains about
50-80 processes.

        Is there any limit to the number of searched processes? If not, do you
know why this occurs?

Thanks in advance,
Jose

437.1Problems also with V7.0TIMAMD::JCUENCAFri Jan 31 1997 06:0417
	I've installed DECamds V7.0 at system VAX 7610 so the customer
configuration stays as follows:

	* System with Console + Driver V7.0-04H
	* Other drivers V6.1-02F

	however I follow having the same problems with the "Process Name
Search" facility: the Event Log notifies that several processes aren't found
(but they're alive indeed). Moreover when a process really dies (for instance
with STOP/ID) the Event Log doesn't realize it.

	Is there any problem on how I've configured the process name search
list? Perhaps using the editor is not recommendable?

	Thanks for any hint.
	Jose
