A customer who has recently migrated approx 8 AlphaServers with dual HSZ40s from OVMS to WinNT forgot to change the HOST_FUNCTIONALITY setting for the HSZ40s (from A to D). All appears to be working fine with the current 'A' setting however, which has led the customer to ask just what effect does setting the HOST_FUNCTIONALITY to the correct value have, or what effect does NOT setting it to the correct have? regards, paul.

876.1 | Yup it's obscure but it does make a difference | SSDEVO::RMCLEAN | Wed May 14 1997 10:22 | 6
For the current release you are almost correct. The only thing that is different is DILX's ability to determine which units are available for use depends upon host functionality mode D. Do NOT take this as gospel for future releases because it may be different as we find things that need to be different for different hosts.

Hello, If a Raid410 (HSZ40) unit with Host Functionality Mode = D were attached to a Sun Solaris Host; the Sun Solaris host may not boot. Regards, Candace L. 876.3 | Not what he asked. I just described the differences | SSDEVO::RMCLEAN | Tue May 20 1997 10:37 | 1
May be true but that wasn't the question. |
