I'm trying to set up a raid-array 450 on a Sun Solaris system for a benchmark. I seem to recall mention by Bob Passamore that the 4000+ io/sec number for this was actually achieved on a sun by dual-pathing the controllers. Can anyone tell me how to set this up on Solaris? It is not mentioned in the raid-array Solaris docs.

I'm not sure if it is multiporting or dual controller. Dual controller is easy, just use the set this preferred_id command Give your hsz's four target id's, say 0,1,2,3 the use set this preferrer_id=0,1 on one controller the spread your unit numbers across all id's. say 0,100,200,300,1,101,201,301, etc. Multporting or multihost is something completely different. this is when you hook up two different scsi busses to the hsz's in a dual configuration. The host system must support this configuration, currently, vms, digital unix, wnt dont's support it, don't know if sun solaris supports it or not. |
