Hello,

customer intended to build a large stripeset connected to a
HSZ40 and an Alphaserver 2100 with VMS 6.2 .

Stripset constists of 6 RZ29B 

init failed.

20GB Raideset consisting of RZ29 works O.K..


I heard about ALPCOMPAT_062.A which would help, there is no description inside 
about upper problem. 

VMS or HSZ-Problem ?

	Hello, sorry for missing information. HSOF software is V25 Z-6, the HSZ40 seems to be an old one. Configuration A2100,KZPSA---single HSZ40---KZPSA,A2100 Good news: after customer installed ALPCOMPAT_062.A by himself he was able to init 6-RZ29B-stripeset. Bernd Dietrich

	Well... I guess the problem was not the HSOF software. You probably should encourage him to upgrade to V3.0 or V3.1. There were some geometry issues with raid 0 & raid 1 with earlier versions of HSOF software.

	Hello, thank you for comments about geometry issues, i think we need upgrade to V3.* Customer tried to allocate a large file by his database-application. -----> system crashed with UNXSIGNAL, unexpected signal name in acp image was ADABAS-database-application Checking with sho dev/full Total cylinders 32645 Sectors per track 64 Tracks per cylinder 8 32645648 ---> 16714240 blocks multiplication is wrong VMS shows ~50000000 blocks (?) His ADABAS-database-application showed available cylinders ~98000 as he tried to allocate a 40000 cylinder file ---> crash Hope I am right, Bernd

	Geometry problems If the customer wants to "mirror" the 5 member strip set then he should upgrade to V3.1. Not V3.0. JK
