Hi all, Because of the recent confusion I observed within the Field about the "C_SWAP utility procedure", I'm trying to summarize the State of the Art on his functionality across all most used versions; in other words, I would please have an official answer to the following question: " Within a redundant HSJ40/HSZ40/HSD30 configuration running HSOF version 2.5 or 2.7 or 3.0, which is the official procedure a Field engineer should use to replace any faulty module (controller, cache) or battery from one of the two running controller ? " Even this question may seem repetitive I can assure you it will save a lot of time avoiding a very bad service to our Customers. Your answers will be used to definitely create a master document on the above subject that will be sent across Italy. Thanks indeed in advance, Maurizio Digital Services Division - M.C.S. the procedure in the v30 service guide lists those procedures.
With one exception,the procedure assumes that both controllers are
up and running. If one of the controllers is down, the
command in the procedure " set this preferred_id=xxx" will fail.
If one of the controllers is down, then on the surviving controlller
issue a "set nofailover" command before entering the
"set this preferred_id" command.
Then use the c_swap procedure as shown in the service guide.

Tom,
Do you mean the procedures described within "HSOF v3.0 Service Guide"
are applicable to HSOF versions v2.5 and v2.7 as well?
It seems also the service guide doesn't report what actions to perform
in case I need to stop one controller (within a redundant configuration)
which has still control over Raidset or Mirrorset (most common example:
Low or Failed Battery)

P.S.: The 'service guide' (page 76) states:
"When you use C_SWAP to replace a controller in a SW500 and SW800
cabinet, you must have two power supplies; in an SW300 cabinet,
you must have five power supplies."
The above statement is only to say (in dual-redundant configuration)
I must have redundant power supplies within the controllers shelf in
order to successfully use the C_SWAP procedure ?
