833.0. "Problems w/ OpenVMS SWCC Agent- PCSI-E-READERR" by TROOA::HANDY (L. Handy, MCSE DTN 626-3210) Thu Apr 03 1997 10:00
I am having trouble with the installation of the SWCC OpenVMS agent
system on our 8400 running OpenVMS v6.21H3.
Here is the problem:
- Copied the OpenVMS agent kit via DECnet from our kit source
directory
- Ran "$ product install * /source='kit directory'
- Errors errors errors
- I can't find pertinent documentation, your help is much appreciated!
Is there a better/newer kit?
(Exact error messages follow)

This is not what was intended. The file is distributed on a Windows
kit and the file moved to the VMS system with FTP (in Image mode).
The symptom you describe sounds like the PCSI file is corrupted,
which might be confirmed by doing a DIR/FULL, ANAL/RMS, and/or
ANAL/RMS/FDL on it.
Also try /LOG switch or $PROD SHOW OBJECT */PRODUCT=SWCC/FULL.

833.2 | Looks like corrupt kit- Any fresh pointers? | TROOA::HANDY | L. Handy, MCSE DTN 626-3210 | Thu Apr 03 1997 15:42 | 34 |
| Brian:
The kit distribution directory was provided to me by Storage Marketing
(I am not sure if I am permitted to post the public directory here...).
I simply DECNET copied the VMS files to my system over Easynet and
presto! I am ready to go. No NT ftp required.
As documented in the installation guide, I did:
$ product install swcc/souce=[]
...
errors errors errors (as in .0)
What gives? Can someone provide me a pointer to a CLEAN kit? As
requested I checked the file integrity:
$ anal/rms DEC-AXPVMS-SWCC-V0101-1A-1.PCSI
*** Attempt to read block with invalid VBN 497.
Unrecoverable error encountered in structure of file.
The analysis uncovered 2 errors.
...
Looks like corruption is the problem.
Could someone kindly give me the pointer to the CLEAN kit, or just send
me the cd? THANKS!
