829.0. "disabling save_configuration..." by SAFFO::BERETTA () Tue Apr 01 1997 10:27

	I've a nonredundant configuration and i try to addon the second one
	to a dual redundant configuration; when i try to do that, the
	controller fault with led 1,4,6 blinking and led // stay on.
	I suspect a problem because I've 3 raidset (raid 5) all with
	SAVE_CONFIGURATION option.
	How can I disable the SAVE_configuration option on HSZ40-C
	with HSOF 3.0-2, without lose any customer data???

	Regards,
			Claudio

829.1Nope but I am not sure that is your problem...SSDEVO::RMCLEANTue Apr 01 1997 11:513
I don't believe you can. Changing the save configuration option will change
the size of the disks involved and may change the geometry of the disks
in an adverse manner.
829.2Not the problem.JULIET::SMITH_PWed Apr 02 1997 09:2818
    The save_configuration cannot be changed on the fly. This is not your
    problem.

    What is the existing controller revision and firmware level?
    Type >show this from the CLI and this should give you the information.

    What is the new controller revision and firmware level? They should be
    identical. If the firmware revisions are different or the controllers
    are different, one is an HSZ40 the other is an HSZ50 then this will not
    work.

    Normally installation of the controller is trivial. Shutdown the
    existing controller, power down, install new controller and cache
    module (not in that order), install the SCSI cable betweem the
    controllers, power up, type from the existing controller >set failover
    copy=this and your are done.

    on which controller does it fail the first on the second, when
    does it fail, during which step of the setting up of the second
    controller?
    plug a terminal into that controllers terminal interface and run
    fmu and show last all
