Customer has on-going problems with hangs and crashes. I entered the fray
shortly after a KZPAA was swapped (I don't know the reasoning behind this).
The system consists of a two Alphaserver2000 systems in a scsi cluster running
6.2 patched with ALPSCSI02_070. In the middle is a dual redundant pair of
HSZ40's running V27Z. Yesterday one of the systems crashed with an INCONSTATE
FBC (at SYS$DKDRIVER+10F0). I could find no known probs that matched the
symptoms for this crash but one of the disk units, DKB101 had logged 57 errors
(all exactly the same) at the time of the crash. The unit is a Mirror set of
two RZ26L drives. I pulled a binary of the errors downline and put them through
SWEAT X3.0 and got the following error (see below). The only other mention of
the "Overlapped commands attempted" error (ASC = 4E, ASCQ = 00) was in ASK_SSAG
note 4711 but that doesn't seem to apply here. Since I have the patch installed
which fixes the problem of missing extended sense data I have concluded (with
Chris Loanes help) that this error was returned from the controller and not the
unit, since there is no extended sense detailing which specific physical drive
had suffered the problem.
As usual, all/any help gratefully accepted.
