| Related to this question, on older firmwqare (before 2.5 I think) the
manual had described a procedue of pushing buttons and watching light
patterns before hot-swapping a drive. I thought this had been changed
and was not needed in new systems? Yesterday a field service engineer
was instructing a customer with new hsz50s in the button pushing
process. Is it necessary?

| Not absolutely necessary but it is a nice idea. It gives the bus time to
shut down and prevent some strange possibility that we have an unrecoverable
bus error or hardware error.
I.E. The safest thing to do is push the button and wait till the HSx has
had time to stop all activity on the bus. It will work with async removal but
it sure feels safer to ensure that the HSx has had time to cleanup all activity.

| Greetings,
Does any of this mean you or more correctly I can add druives to an
hsz hot? Whenever I've done anything with these devices there
seems to be a plethoria of amber lites etc if you get anything wrong.
I would prefer to avoid that if at all possiable.
