1243.1 | With terminals sometimes dumber is better ! | SSDEVO::FIALA | Me, I'm just a recycler. | Wed May 28 1997 09:44 | 6 |
| Non-remote terminals have many layers of command interception in the way
before the CLI process gets any characters. Multi-character sequences
[^v<>] are the first to go. Is there a requirement for such a facility?
maybe using ^a,^b etc???.

| Hi! Thought we'd lost you for a while!! :-))
There is no "REQUIREMENT" as such. I just happen to do a lot of testing
on our HSJs from my desk and therefore command recall would be as nice
a facility from there as it is from a local terminal. I am not in a
position to speak for the world in general but I should imagine a lot
of customers who operate their HSx device from the system rather than
locally would like the facility. My own judgement of the the customer
need is that when I talk them through some recovery process they quite
often have to repeat commands but with a slight edit. This only works
for one command and therefore adds to the time (and propensity to make
mistakes). It wasn't a real disaster when we didn't have it at all but
it would be "NICE" to have it work on host links as well now we have it
on local ones. That's if you guys have the time.

I'm with Keith on this one. Occasionally I find myself doing a
massive pile of add commands and prefer commands on HSX consoles
over dial-in or on site and it'd be easier to do with CLR. Just
a wish list item, really.
