1199.0. "tapes misconfigured" by PTOSS1::CYPHER () Tue Jan 28 1997 21:19
My customer phased out TA7x/HSC technology and implemented the
TSZ07/HSJ40 solution. They needed the tape drives to be on one
floor, and the SW800 lives on the floor below. I did this with
the following config:
HSJ-port6
50 pin high density-to-68 pin wide SE 1 meter cable
DWZZB-AA
68 pin differential-to-50 pin low density, 20 2meter cable
TSZ07 differential i/f
One meter dual-ended low density interconnect cable
TSZ07 differential i/f
Termination
It appears to work well but we intermittently experience both drives
reporting 'offline' to OpenVMS and the internal HSJ40 status shows
both drives as "misconfigured", requiring manual intervention in the
form of HSJ40 commands to CLEAR UNKNOWN TAPE600.
Since there is now way to connect the short (signal-float) adapter
cable, where should I turn next?

| Because you have left out the shelf conditioning cable you have a
strange status reported. If your SCSI cables from HSJ/D/Z ports
do not go to storageworks shelves (BA350 or BA356) then you must
install one of these cables somehow. Either that or install a DWZZA
into a spare device slot and then run your cables from there.
