276.0. "RZxx Analysis/SICL again....." by VIVIAN::S_BEGLEY (Steve Begley - London MCS Support) Thu Feb 13 1997 09:22

    Hi,

Reading notes 193,194 and a few older ones I gather that there is no
DECevent analysis functionality for SCSI - RZ type drives.

We have a major Customer here in London who has over 100 RZ29's and is
concerned that when one logged 6 hard errors and dropped out of a
Raid 0+1 set there was no notification.

DECevent 2.3 is inatalled and the systems are running mainly OpenVMS VAX
    and Alpha.

I have suggested that if he adds local Mail recipients to the "monitor"
mailing list he will at present get local notification at least - he
has asked me when the analysis and therefore SICL notification will be
    operational - any prospected dates?

Thanks in advance for any help or info.....

	Steve,

I do not have a projected date. I expect it to happen within this calendar
year. We continue to receive new mandates from mmgt. as to what needs to be
supported next. At present the 41/84 class machines are getting the lions share
of the coding effort. SCSI analysis requires a significant effort from storage
engineering and the DECevent team. it will not be near as easy to produce
theories as the DSA devices.

The good news from all of this. Is that we are finally getting some new coders
and creating a maintenance team to fix bugs at the same time as new development.
