267.3What about all the other Alpha's ?LTIMA2::SLADDENMon Feb 03 1997 08:3238

Could you please check the pointer given in the previous note as I have
been unable to access the Web page pointer provided. Additionally I logged
into evnrud.cxo.dec.com via anonymous ftp and noted that the directory
    /dwnt does not exist.

Whilst I am extremely greatfull for potential support of DECevent on the
4100, could we please have some time scales as to the other Alpha's
currently running windows NT on our Customers sites with as far as I'm
aware no DECevent support. These would be:-

    Alphastation	200/250/255/400/600
    DEC	2000 models	300/500
    DECAXP 150
    Alphaserver 1000/1000A/2100/2100A/4100

Not to mention the Potential disaster if DECevent is not ready for the
Turbolaser when running NT... I've heard this ships in May 97. Surely
it would have to be a very brave Customer to want this environment
    without DECevent.

Would it be possible for you to issue a monthly news letter detailing:-

1.. What you are currently working on.
2.. Time scales for completion of the above.
3.. What are your future commitments and plans.
    4.. Suggestions

I am somewhat aware of your resources and the cooperation you receive
from other Engineering groups, what concerns me is that if we in MCS are
unable to rectify faults occuring on the machines listed above in a timely
manner, eventually are Customers will cease to buy them. If/When that
occurs there will be lots of unrequired resources available...

    Thanks and regards

267.4for want of an eDSNENG::KOLBEWicked Wench of the WebMon Feb 03 1997 11:3015
The URL should read /dewnt/index.htm I must have typo'd.

As for turbolaser support it is being worked on and should be
available in the turbolaser release timeframe. I can't give an
exact date because as yet I do not know of one.

A monthly newsletter would be contradicting itself each month.
That's about how often requirements get changed around here. Even
as we speak there is a global road show going on to find out what
is (and is not) needed from decevent. Why do I suspect that
forbodes yet another product/schedule change.

The pressure from competing product groups is intense but the man
power just doesn't exist yet to meet the demand. We are in between
that rock and hard place you so oten hear about. liesl
267.5Visit 'MCS on the Move' roadshow.SEDSWS::SIAREYWed Feb 05 1997 04:3219
    Pete,

As mentioned in .-1 there is a roadshow currently doing a world wide
tour - MCS on the Move.

I know that the UK personel have received details about the dates,
I have already seen the roadshow and I have spoken with the people
    involved.

Please make every effort to visit the roadshow as one of it's primary
goals is to talk to and understand the field (and our customers)
requirements, they need your constructive feedback.

    Regards,
    Colin S.

PS. If you need any info on the UK dates etc. give me a call, 7 844-3312.
