I just ran into this on a 4.0B system, interesting that DECevent and UERF give
different results...

I wonder why a BLITZ was NEVER posted for this?, I also wonder why there was
never an IPMT filed against this (at least not one that I could find), and I
also wonder why there has been no further information regarding a fix...

I guess that I'm so full of wonder because for the last 2 weeks I have been
pulling my hair out trying to make some sence out of a whole lot of machine
checks on a sable, then I find this note entry. So the question is, who really
owns this?, is it UNIX or DECevent?, has an IPMT been filed?

Regards,

/bob

	Bob,

The problem is with Unix not DECevent. We translate whats written by what we
expect. If the driver wrote it wrong we will not know it if the file meets the
req's for size. I have to assume that the Unix engineering team is aware and is
working to resolve the issue. No one has come forward with a patch for this
problem. If they made one, noone informed us of the patch info.

File an IPMT if you want a patch....it won't get patched if you don't.

Eric, Keith,

Based on the info to date, perhaps it's safe to assume that an IPMT has not yet
been filed. My real concern here is that this is a serious issue that has been
, for all intents and purposes, overlooked. I guess in an idealistic way I
believed that an awareness of such an issue within engineering would be
sufficient cause to prompt a fix/blitz, silly me, :(.

BTW: dont take any of this wrong, the intent is not to place blame, but to
question some of our processes. My frustration and logical ways often precede
the reality of it all.

I will file an IPMT today...

Thanks for your input,

/bob
