526.4 | | COMICS::CORNEJ | What's an Architect? | Mon Jun 02 1997 13:57 | 7 |
| John,
If this is for DOVER then it will need to be built with the
libsecurity.so modified by the guys in Warrington...

|
526.5 | you can build it yourself | SMURF::BAT | Segui la tua beatitudine | Mon Jun 02 1997 14:12 | 1 |
| The sources are in pub/date/source
|
526.6 | .so = dynamically loaded | SMURF::SCHOFIELD | Rick Schofield, DTN 381-0116 | Mon Jun 02 1997 14:33 | 7 |
| Why would you need to rebuild? If it's dynamically linked, you only
need to run it on the system with the modified libsecurity.so. You
should only have to rebuild if it's statically linked and you're using
a modified libsecurity.a, right? Or am I missing vital piece of the
puzzle?

526.7 | | COMICS::CORNEJ | What's an Architect? | Tue Jun 03 1997 06:23 | 7 |
| I guess it depends on what changes in the library.
It probably works most of the time, but for this customer it would
be best to check first.

526.8 | There are two date binaries | NNTPD::"[email protected]" | John McNulty | Tue Jun 03 1997 12:28 | 16 |
| Looking at the equivalent DEC OSF/1 patch, there are three files in the
patch:
/usr/lib/nls/msg/en_US.ISO8859-1/date.cat
/usr/bin/date
/sbin/date
So you're both right .. /usr/bin/date won't need to be recompiled with
the custom libsecurity.so, but /sbin/date will as it's staticly linked.
I've still not tried it out yet btw :-( Scrambling for time at the
mo!

526.9 | It worked .. I think. | NNTPD::"[email protected]" | John McNulty | Thu Jun 05 1997 13:27 | 14 |
| Ok, it worked. Just time warped to the year 2010, and I still have the
same amount of hair ;-)
I've rebooted and logged in again (yes I didn remember to give my
root account an unlimited life first). And all appears to be up
and working.
A more thorough shake down will have to be done by someone else.
Thanks Barbara,
John
