Hi folks,

I've got a customer with several nagging problems on MLS+ V3.1A plus patch
kit dated 19 Nov 96.  Briefly, these are:

1. Sometimes after users change their passwords, they can no longer login.
When attempting to login, they receive the message: "protected password
database seems to have vanished."

2. When backing up a large directory (10s of 1000s of files) using Mltape,
backing this directory up by itself works.  But backing it up at the
same time as another directory causes various failure messages in the first
filesystem (not always at the same point).

3. When redirecting output from a script called from cron, the output
does not go to the file that the output is redirected to.  But it works
fine when executed from the command line.

I've done research in Comet and NOTES and haven't found a match for any
of these.  I've done some (limited) testing on our systems, which is a
different version (3.1-1) and haven't been able to come up with anything
either.

I'll follow this with individual notes with more details on these problems,
so as to avoid a tangled discussion.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
