| Just received a CD containing Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto #3.
It's a live recording made in 1982 by Martha Argerich and the RSO
Berlin. Also included is Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto #1. Spirited
performances. Philips label.

Have anyone seen the movie "Shine" ? I have not seen the movie yet
but the movie is a story of a gifted pianist who feels a strong affinity
to Rachmaninov's works, in particular, his 3rd piano concerto was
played extensively in the movie. I am going to see it soon.
The character's name is David Helfgott.
His passion for music was some what like another pianist Glenn Gould
which was depicted in the movie "32 short stories of Glenn Gould",
a character charged with madness and genius.
RCA has recorded and produced David's complete live performance of
Rach 3rd PC. what's your impression of it ?
I would like to compare his with the Martha Argerich's performance
or the performance by the late Horowitz, both are well-known top
Rach 3rd PC performances.
