2110.0. "Segmentation fault - revisited" by TIMAST::SCHIMPF (Rick Schimpf SPS Specialist) Wed Jun 04 1997 01:02
This note is a continuation of 2087 and 1341 for the issue of a
segmentation fault. Somehow, the localhost entry in the /et/c/hosts
file got deleted. I am not sure how that happened, but I put it back
and now ASE runs just fine. What I was looking for and could not find
was a detailed explanation as to what happens when the localhost entry
is missing. I think that segmentation fault is an interesting error to
get when the /etc/hosts file is modified. Also, before I realized that
the localhost entry was deleted, I was troubleshooting the ASE
installation(rebuilding and rebooting) and I got it to work once. Any
ideas about how that could have happened woul be appreciated.
Thanx
Rick Schimpf
