Hello The config in Question AS4100 5/300 2 Nos 512 MB each Digital Unix 4.0b TCR 1.4 We have two DE500-XX on each machine. We have to configure them in failover mode. The cards are recoganised and are on the same subnet with an external router defined. According the manuals when we run 'asemgr' and choose option n) Modify the network configuration We are supposed to get options like 'Define primary ase member network' 'Define Backup ase member network' etc.... But in our case we are not getting any of the above options. Are we missing anything out..Is there anything else to be installed.. All the other services seem to work fine. Thanx and regards Balaji [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

Balaji, You should have memory channel card(s) installed. The primary/backup networks are used ONLY for ASE daemons inter-node communication. As you have installed a memory channel, this feature is not present. But, I wonder if your understanding of primary/secondary networks id the good one? It is not usefull at all for the "clients" of the cluster. If you need to "failover" from one network to the other for the behalf of the users, you should use the "Monitor interface" feature and customize the /var/ase/lib/ni_status_awk script or play with the "gated" options from inside of your start/stop script. Have a look in the documentation for ASEROUTING. See also notes on Network failover. Manu. |
