2029.0. "vquota in ASE V1.3 and ASE reserving disks" by BERGEN::ARVID () Tue Apr 29 1997 07:25
Hello,
I have a few questions I hope someone can answer:
1. users running vquota...
A customer was running Unix V3.2C before, but when we setup a Unix
cluster, Unix was upgraded to V3.2G. After this, users have problems
using the command "vquota", they were not allowed to run it. Again, a
workaround was done: I think they set the "suid" bit on "vquota". Do
you know why normal users can't run "vquota" now (after upgrading to
Unix V3.2G) ??
[email protected] has verified that there is a bug in the
implementation of vquota used for ASE V1.3, it was fixed in ASE
V1.4. Is there a patch for this problem in ASE V1.3 ?? If not,
will there be a patch for it ?
2.
At another site I saw problems reserving disks. This site is running
Unix V3.2G and ASE V1.3. I was testing some takeover situations and
had one system shut down while the other system had the
service. Then I shutdown the system that was running the service and
booted the other system. The newly booted system then had problems
reserving the drives and making the service available ?? I got the
service available by doing a " .../asemember restart", but this
should not be nessessary. Are there known problems with reserving
drives ??
