1999.0. "No way around a bad disk???" by EPS::NGUYEN (Without fools there would be no wisdom.) Mon Apr 14 1997 17:34

Hi there,

I'm trying to restart a service which just became "unassigned".
The reason, I think, is that I've removed a bad disk. I manually
recreated the needed file-domain for the service and use asemgr to
restart it (I "online" it OK, though) and my file domain is gone
again. It seems that I got the similiar problem with note 1108.*
Anyone know how to get the fix is greatly appreciated.
My software version is more up-to-date, TCR ASE 1.4 on D/U 4.0B.

Thanks.

Please, give us more info like:

    # asemgr -dv service_name
    # volprint -Avht
    # voldisk list
    # ls -lR /etc/fdmns

Also the extract of the daemon.log, and the "bad" disk you remove...

and the "bad" disk I've removed was rzc11 (which is ora-02 in LSM)

    Gina,

So, you removed rzc11c, but according to voldisk list it has NOT been
re-integrated in LSM. In the daemon.log, ASE is complaining that rzc11c
is not providing a LSMpub and LSMpriv partition.

So, it appears that you have removed rzc11C out of LSM and replaced it
by a new one without using the appropriate command to keep LSM
    informed.

I propose that you follow the standard method to "replace" a bad LSM
disk. There is a procedure on XIRTLU::/pub/ase/example, and in the LSM
    guide.
