Hi, We are starting to work with Truclusters here in Brazil and we are trying to understand the utilization of the Distributed Raw Disk. I'm sorry for the simple questions and thank you in advance. . Can I define a LSM volume as the distributed raw disk? . Which kind of application will take advantage of DRD? Databases Parallel Servers? Advfs file sets? . If you included Advfs file sets in the previous answer, what is the meaning for NFS services now? Thank you for any help, Miriam

DRDs are Distributed Raw Disks. You can use them wherever you would use a RAW disk (well, some caution is required). As you can't build a filesystem on a raw disk, most of your options are not valid. Remember that all nodes in a cluster will have full access to this raw disk, so any database on this will need a way of ensuring that its updates are self-consistant. OPS does this - I don't know about other database vendors. Jc | |||||

Thank you for your answer. Now it seems obvious but for a moment I got really confused with this question. Miriam |
