While I appreciate the reply, I need a DEFINITIVE answer from the TCR
folks..... we were told by the Sales Hotline that it WILL work, ie: that
Production Server includes all the ASE features PLUS the Memory Channel
suport. That's why they didn't bother to put Available Server on the CSLG
list, 'cause with Production Server, it would be redundant.
For those of you not familiar with CSLG, Digital provide FREE licenses for
most of our products to Educational accounts, the "Campus-Wide Software
License Grant". TCR Production Server is on this list, but not Available
Server.
So, the bottom line question for the TCR experts: if they have a license for
Production Server, and all they want to do is set up an Available Server
environment (ie: no Memory Channel), can they ??
Thanks

| Arlan,
Yes, this can work. The TCR Available Server IS a subset of the TCR
Production
Server Software package. So with the correct configuration set up you could
get the Available Server running with the Production Server PAK. However,
this is not supported and may not work with out post install hand
configuration
work.
Please note Dave's reponse (reply .1). The correct and supported way to do
this is to get the CSLG to hand out ASE PAKS along with TCR paks. As Dave
mentions, the install process keys off of the PAK in order to determine which
subsets to lay down and what questions to ask and how to set up the
environemnt.
TCR and ASE environments are installed differently.
So in short, Yes is would work, but No this is the wrong solution.
