1955.0. "1000a supported yet?" by GOONS::SWIGG (Tom Swigg Learning Services) Tue Mar 18 1997 10:11

Hi, I'm trying to spec a cheap, cheerfull and supported Trucluster
config. In earlier notes mention is made of support for the alphaserver
1000a being in a qualification stage (ref the url to a status report
dated about 6 months ago) The V1.4 SPD does not mention AS1000a so
I presume it is not supported. Is this strictly true as there is at
least one note mentioning Trucluster V1.4/DUNIX V4.0b running on
    AS 1000a.
Maybe the 1000a is not the cheapest supported config? I need two X two
    systems for Trucluster Training purposes.
    Any advice gratefully received.
    Thanks
    Tom

Hi Tom -

At this point, the TruCluster Available Server (failover)
supports the AS 1000A. That must be what you saw in that
one note.

However, the TruCluster Production Server (parallel db offering)
does not support the 1000A as of yet. We have been in
qualification and fix mode for this for some time now. I am
assuming that support will come in April for the Production
Server.

If you want a smaller box, the AS 800 is shipping and we will
support it with both the Available Server and Production Server
products at the end of April 1997.

Thanks -

Christine

AlphaServer 800 is new low end server and FRS is end of March
	with volume at April.

	One more thing:

AlphaServer 300 with it's two (2) PCI slots
is not major candidate for TruCluster
	Prod.Server cases. Totally different thing
is that there seems to be demand for MC support
on _all_ workstations...for HPC farms you know.
