Dumb question ... In setting up a Trucluster ...(not an ASE cluster) It asked during the install if I was using ASE and I said no Am I supposed to say yes and give it a cluster ID even though I am not running an ASE cluster... When I run clu_ivp afterwards it tells me the the CNX director is suspended are these two problems related? On a simple level I assume (tell me if I'm wrong) a Trucluster is like a Vaxcluster with shared disks and all the systems run separate processes with one system being the connection manager etc... an ASE cluster can exist within a trucluster...and only one of the systems can use the system resources at a time...as one system dies another failsover and takes over the system processes excuse my ignorance.. So what is the cnx director and why is he suspended leo

In setting up a Trucluster ...(not an ASE cluster) It asked during the install if I was using ASE and I said no Am I supposed to say yes and give it a cluster ID even though I am not running an ASE cluster... No when running TruCluster Production Server you can run with ASE configured or not. When prompted by the question: Will the system be in an ASE? you can answer yes or no and still run the TruCluster software correctly. When I run clu_ivp afterwards it tells me the the CNX director is suspended are these two problems related? No it should not be related. We would need more information to tell why it is not running. We would also need someone besides me to look at the information too ..... :-) I will let someone else describe the TCR TruCluster for you. As far as ASE (TruCluster Available Server) goes, it can run with or without the TruCluster Production Server Software. Yes, only one system may access the disk resources at a time. And, yes, the asedirector daemon determines where the 'services' should run based on service ASP's and resource availability. -- Greg [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] |
