1912.0. "using NFS to set up single user domain in ASE" by DOOSJE::HERTA (For something fulfilled this hour, loved, or endured) Mon Mar 03 1997 10:39
I saw topic 1497.1 where Peter Flack mentions that he set up a common login
environment in which he NFS mounted the tcb directory and rdist'ed "some other
pieces" (I assume these are /etc/passwd and /etc/group). He also mentions having
adding code to prevent simultaneous updates from multiple systems.
I tried contacting Peter by mail, but had no answer yet.
Has anyone else tried a similar setup? What code would need to be added? What
pitfalls would I have to look out for? What happens in case of network partitioning
- what would I need to do so that at least root would still be able to access the
system?
We're extremely short of time, so any help is greatly appreciated.
