hi folks, i have a customer who wants scsi controller redundancy within the server such that should one controller fail then the other controller within the same server should take over i/o to the shared storage. please note, the customer requires that there should be two controllers within the same server and both should be accessing the same shared storage box (SWx00). I'm in doubt as to whether this kind of a config is supported on Digital Unix/ ASE as yet. note 1237.0 refers to this kind of a situation. please indicate if such a solution is possible...(and when?) regards Sudhir.

I believe what you're looking for is "dual-rail" SCSI. Not possible with current UNIX release. The next major release of DUNIX ("Steel") should support what you're looking for. | |||||

HP does this with a hack to their LVM, that allows them to have multiple device names to try and use. I don't know how this works (if at all) in there clusters. Changing LSM to do this is not so easy, nor does it give us what we want for behavior. The plans for this are part of steel. |
