7113.0. "Help needed with Peer Server V1.4 configuration" by IOSG::SMITHF (CICS Development Programme, Reading) Wed Jun 04 1997 10:18
We're having a problem with either the installation or subsequent configuration
of Peer Server V1.4 on Digital UNIX V4.0a.
I include a copy of the Peer Server trace, the log files, and the setld output
so you can see what has been installed.
Please could someone help us diagnose what is going wrong here?
Thanks in anticipation.
Fiona
p.s. this installation is being done as part of a certification exercise
to verify CICS for Digital UNIX V2.1b and Peer Server V1.4.

7113.1 | You'd need a bit more info to go to support. | DELNI::BARBER_MINGO | Let me DANCE for you | Wed Jun 04 1997 12:52 | 31 |
| Hi,
Normally, I would suggest that you contact a regular support
forum. I this file, you might be hard pressed to get direct support.
You do not, however, have quite enough information for the
support people to figure out what is going on.
You need to show:
1> What the state of your WAN and SNA entities are in NCL.
2> What your NCL configuration file looks like.
3> What your /etc/services entry has for your LU6.2 server.
4> What a CTF trace shows about your connection when it is enabled
and connected.
5> If your t21 processeses remained up and running on your system
(your log file showed that they STARTED, but not if they stayed up).
From what is listed here, all I can tell is that you may not have
decnet installed, and your logmask shows that. You also have a token
ring card that is, hopefully, inserting into your 16 bit ring.
Some EDS representative in this conference MAY be able to tell you
if the "module 14" message in your log belongs to them, but otherwise
it's a bit sketchy.
I can also show you the save-sets listed on the system where
a peer server is installed and running. We could compare it with
what you have, but, since no one's exactly said what's actually
WRONG with the peer server, I'm not sure how helpful that would
be in getting your issues resolved.

| .1> From what is listed here, all I can tell is that you may not have
.1> decnet installed, and your logmask shows that.
From the setld output, DECnet is definitely not installed.
The first thing in the logmask is a GCI_ENABLE_RECEIVE_CONNECT
using DECnet transport, which understandably fails:
status = 0x02038182
(%SNA-E-FUNCABORT, access routine function aborted)
If your problem is anything other than that, do as .1 says -
define the problem clearly and use your support channel.

| Hello,
For the first response on your .0 note, it looks like you have
the WDA, ZZA, and T21 savesets that we do by the setld instruction.
Your DNA information is a little different, but it would be a REAL
problem if that affected your peer server in any way. I'll paste
our savesets so you can see.
We're off to the next level of analysis. I am going to try
to see what happens when I install a peer server WITHOUT setting up
all the llc2 information. That is the interesting component that
is indicating that it was not loaded. WHY it would say that is
something we'll check out.
Talks soon,
Cindi
