	Hi,

	we had a system happily running Peer Server 1.3-2 and LU62 3.0 eco 4
	over an SDLC circuit. Now we have changed to a QLLC and many doubts 
	arise.

	Our host doesn't want us to define QLLC link station as negotiable
	or primary, in this case we send an XID and host rejects the 
	connection. So that, we define QLLC link station as SECONDARY, and
	it stays with status on-listen, no x25 call is done.

	Until now I suppose then everything is correct (can anybody confirm
	it?) I also suppose that when a session is started from AXP, an
	x25 call should be issued, station should become on, and trans group
	on-connected, but none of this things happen.

	The facts are that when I activate a session, program hungs forever
	and nothing happens. The same program works ok for SDLC.

	Now the main question: who has to initiate the x25 call? If we are
	a secondary station, shouldn't we send a kind of Init self?

In order for us to get an idea of what is going on can you provide the following
data for the x25 connection:

Send a copy of the NCL startup script for Peer Server and X25.

To answer your question, if I understand it correctly, you will not see
anything for the LU establishment until after you have the x25 link up
and running.  In other words, you are not at that point yet.

	Hi,

	before writing ncl output and configs, let me clarify one point:

	X.25 link is over a public PSDN and its working fine. I know it
	because when configuring qllc link station as negotiated, a call
	is established.

Herminia,

It looks like the qllc link station is waiting for a call from the
IBM side, but the link is configured so that only peer server can
initiate the call.

CHANGE YOUR USAGE CONFIGURATION ON :
	Node 0 QLLC Link QLLC-1 Station STN-1
FROM :
	Usage Type                        = Outgoing
TO :
	Usage Type                        = both (or incoming)

    Jim, thnks for your fast reply.
    
    Fortunately we have an x25 connection with customer and can do testing
    immediately. Now I have followed your indications and problem is
    exactly the same after start and stop Peer Server. I'll include ncl
    output at the end of this reply.
    
    Customer says that another node (Stratus) connected also as Secondary,
    sends an x25 call to host once enabled. Should be the normal behaviour
    also for our Peer Server? 
    
    One more thing: host isn't an IBM, it's a Bull emulating SNA...

    I think it is all set. Why not ask the Bull side to initiate a call
    to the Peer Server. As secondary the Peer Server will not call the
    Bull side. If you look at your earlier traces you'll notice that
    as negotiable the Peer Server called the Bull and the Bull hung up.
    
    The Peer Server is waiting to be contacted.

    This is the key question I asked for in .0 : we can see that Peer
    Server is waiting for contact, but what I wanted to know is if this 
    is the normal behaviour in SNA protocol. I need to be sure about it to
    discuss with customer and Bull's communication specialist.
    
    One more question: is there any good Digital or IBM or whatever manual
    where SNA is explained in detail?

    This is not SNA protocol, it is QLLC data link over X.25. A Network
    Protocols Handbook will be helpful here.

    IBM has many books on SNA. There is also a good SNA book from
    J. Ranaude Series (Hope I spelled correctly). Check the local
    technical bookstore. In Burlington Mass., it's Softpro.
