Hello, I am logging this problem for Pier-Erik ALBAT, who is on site in Marocco. Pb : The connexion between SNA Peer Server and the Host does not establish. UNIX sends NXID and get no response from IBM. The configuration is as follows : ---------- | ES9000 | ---------- | --------------------------- | 3745 controler | | 5030 IO card unit feature | --------------------------- | Token Ring Connexion ------------------------- | 8228 HUB MAU | | 8229 Bridge TR-Ethernet | | 8224 Ethernet HUB | ------------------------- | Ethernet -------------------------------------------------------- | | ------------ --------------------- | SNA Server | | SNA Peer Server 1.3 | | NT 4.0 | | UNIX V3.2G | ------------ --------------------- SNA Server Works fine with IBM, as long as you enable XID0 (PU 2.0), and does not work when trying to change it to XID3 (PU 2.1) SNA Peer Server does not receive any answer from IBM, only send NXID. (seen on the LLC2 trace) Pier Erick has no sniffer on site and the customer cannot trace VTAM for him. The remote MAC address has been correctly defined on the SNA Peer Server. TG has been configured to support dependent LU. Communications between SNA Server and SNA Peer Server works using TCP/IP (Ping). He cannot test communication with another equipment on Token Ring (nothing else than the IBM controler exists) The Ethernet/Token Ring bridge does not seem to be configured to filter packets Could somebody help ? Thanks in advance Catherine

Catherine, The Peer Server is an PU2.1 node (XID3) and should inhierently support the functionality of a PU2.0 (XID0) node. In order to see what is happening, can we get the following information: 1) The startup script for the peer server configuration. 2) The switched PU and line definitions on the IBM side. 3) The TIC definitions for NCP. 4) The release level for VTAM and NCP. Thanks, Jim Kelly IBM IC Support Engineering |
