7091.0. "dtf and f$file_attribute" by MLNORO::MALACRIDA () Wed May 14 1997 06:28

    Hi,

after the migration from VAX/VMS 5-5.2 and DTF 3.1 to OpenVMS AXP 6.2
and DTF 3.2, my customer has a problem with the lexical function
F$FILE_ATTRIBUTE: the error returned is the same as per the note 6423.

From the same note it looks like that this problem is patched by
ECO 9 of DTF/MVS kit ( at the time of this writing I don't know the
version and PTF level of DTF/MVS the customer is using).

    Now a couple of questions:

    - how do I get that ECO 9 of DTF for IBM kit?

    - is ECO 9 a complete kit, and then DTF for MVS must be completely
re-installed, or is it just a number of patches (PTF) to be applied
      to the base version?

    Thanks,

    giovanni

You don't want ECO 9. You want ECO 10, which is the latest, and it
includes the PTF's from ECO 9 and below.

The ECO kit is _NOT_ a complete reinstall, just PTFs to be applied
to the base version. SMP/E is smart enough, though, to recognize
which PTFs are already applied to the base and only apply those
	yet unapplied.

	I hope this is clear.
