When I called 1-800-digital, they told me that the Domain Gateway is NOT a
current product - in fact told me that it wasn't even still available. That's
obviously not the case, but erroneous information is being dispersed.
What is the difference between the Domain Gateway and the Peer Server? Why
would I need one over the other. It must have something to do with PLU and
SLU? What the customer explained to me is that they need to support LU2
communications from Digital to IBM. I think I need to ask them some further
questions to decide on whether they need the Peer Server or Domain Gateway.
Please help with the questions that I need to ask.
THanks

| Hi,
I'm not sure you ever indicated what operating systems are
involved.
On VMS systems, there are 2 forms of 3270 data stream. There
is the regular 3270DS where you code data stream INSTEAD of using
a terminal emulator in to the mainframe. There is also Reverse
3270 (It requires a mainframe) that allows IBM mainframe users
to log into your VMS system through the Domain gateway.
On Digital Unix systems there is Reverse 3270 data stream (requiring
a Domain gateway) and HLLAPI with TPS which allows you to
write programs to run on TOP of your terminal emulation sessions
through all of our gateways.
You may not be able to get CT's, the original Domain gateways, from
Dec any more. It depends on if we ran out of the hardware. I thought,
however, you could still get ST's. They also run Domain software.
I hope that makes your options a little clearer.
