7048.0. "speed of CT ?" by ROM01::STURN (Sturn Federico @RIO) Thu Mar 20 1997 09:30

    Hi,
    it is not clear to me which is the speed of the Domain Gateway Channel
    Attached.
    In the release notes I find 1.3/2.6 megabits/sec but the IBM
    Bus-and-Tag has a speed of 3.0/4.5 megabytes/sec.
    Can somebody explain to me?

    Thanks

It's all in the implementation.

The hardware (older vax) which makes up the box can only go so fast,
the software adds its own overhead but 90% or more of the problem is
that the Channel Board used for the CT can only go so fast.

Just because Bus & Tag _can_ go to 4.5Mbytes, doesn't mean our
product does.
