7034.2 | It's in there. | DELNI::BARBER_MINGO | Let me DANCE for you | Thu Mar 06 1997 13:45 | 11 |
| Hi,
It's in the book, but you may wish to ignore the port logical
description. That part's not accurate.
You can either limit the transport through logicals, or try
specifying an ipname (peer.server.dec.com) for the node name.
For the most part, they use port number 108.
Have fun,

7034.3 | Slight clarification | EDSCLU::PORCARO | | Fri Mar 07 1997 09:35 | 21 |
| I wish to amend slightly what Cindi stated in the last
reply.
>>>For the most part, they use port number 108.
All Digital Gateway Access Servers (GAS) listen for connections
over the TCP transport at port # 108.
The OpenVMS products that were recently released, described
(incorrectly) the use of a TCP port logical name that allows
an access routine to override port 108.
I have removed this logical name from the release notes in ECO-01
of these products (we are shipping now).
That logical should be documented correctly and ONLY in the 3270
Services Docs. to allow the access routines to connect to 3270
Services directly (no gateway) for testing and or development of
a 3270AS application.

| Hi,
Thanks for answering.
From the documentation and this note I can understand that the only logical
that should be defined is SNA_TRANSPORT_ORDER.
If it doesn't work would it be because /etc/services entry 108 is not
defined o.k.? Might be other reasons ?
Thanks

7034.5 | Are you in the right notesfile? | EDSCLU::GARROD | IBM Interconnect Engineering | Mon Mar 10 1997 09:23 | 9 |
| No it doesn't have to be defined in /etc/services.
What exactly is the problem?
By the way is just is more than just an inquiry on product
functionality you should be putting the question in
SMAUG::IBM_IC_SUPPORT ie if you are having a product problem.

| Dave,
I will if I'll have specific problem that I can state. By now I'm not
sure if it's usage or more then that.
Thanks
