7027.0. "Problem in unbind with AXP/VMS v6.2" by BARNA::DSMAIL () Thu Feb 27 1997 10:14

I have a problem in a customer running an application with SNALU62
v2.3 and DECnet for OpenVMS AXP v6.2. There is a gateway with DECnet/SNa
GATEWAY-ST v1.2 BL12.

The application activates an LU6.2 session an puts an AST to know when
the session falls. Every night from the HOST they deactivate the session and
from the AXP side we detect it. But sometimes (it has happened some times) we
don't detect the session falls, when this happens, we see the session in the
gateway with "unbind-in progress" and from VTAM in the HOST they see the
session deactivated.

If we disconnect the decnet link between the alpha server and the
gateway then the session falls and the AST from the application executes.

The same application is running in an VAX/VMS system with the same
gateway and the same HOST and it works.
Is there any problem with the versions used???

	Thanks in advance...

Is the VAX running DECnetIV and the Alpha running DECnet/OSI?
If so, look for a DECnet/OSI issue.

The problem needs more debugging locally. When you disconnect the
link the AST fires with "connection terminated by a 3rd party".
When an unbind comes in from the IBM side, the disconnection scenario
    is different.

It should be easily reproducible, so you can get much more information
    than this.

The ST V1.2 BL12 has been updated 8 times (V1.2 ECO-08) with problem
fixes. You're sure this can't happen on the VAX ever?
