3992.0. "INPUT REQUIRED with the same field value" by MUNICH::SBECKER (Every minute - every hour, I feel the power) Thu Apr 10 1997 10:31

    Hi,

I found in the release notes for DECforms, that the INPUT REQUIRED
clause does not work as mentioned in the docu.

    see ...

                  o INPUT REQUIRED clause.

The INPUT REQUIRED clause does not behave as
    		     documented
in the DECforms IFDL Reference Manual. In particular,
if the operator enters the existing value of the panel
field, the INPUT REQUIRED clause is not satisfied. The
INPUT REQUIRED clause is satisfied only if the value
of the data item has been modified by the operator.
The Read Verify function of the VMS terminal driver
determines the behavior of the INPUT REQUIRED clause.

How can a customer avoid this problem ?

He uses a field to select some data from a database. If he wants to
resee or check the same record this is not possible. He has first to
input anything different before he can reuse the id number he wants to
    check.

    Any ideas ?

    Thank you very much advance.

How's about using a MINUMUM LENGTH of 1 instead on that
field? That way, typing in the same value would satisfy
that condition.

    Thank you for the reply.

I told this the customer already.

I saw that this problem is known at least since version V1.4 of
DECforms and thaught that in the meantime there is maybe a fix.
