Hi, One of our customers complain about using DECforms 2.1 on Alpha with VMS 6.1 DECnet/OSI 6.3 that cause him the following problem. When he "set host" to the Alpha from either VAX or Alpha, run the Cobol/DECforms on the remote system, disconnect the link ==> the program stay in loop on the remote system. Doing the same but running Cobol/FMS program, after the disconnect the program finish it work (not staying in the loop). He said that he can reproduce the problem at will with his program/environment. PLEASE - Any ideas ???????? - Amir Klein

We've seen this sort of problem and its DECthreads related. The problem goes away when using 2.2. They can still get on the field test if they want. -Tim

Thank you very much - Tim. However can you elaborate a little more on your answer ? I need some more information to be able to give this customer from two points > Technical , what was the problem ? what is the solution ? Why is it affecting DECforms in v2.1 that they upgrade from 1.4 (in 1.4 they has ACCVIO) ? any additional info that will light this issue. > From "political" point, I need more to give him as this issue was around here moving from DECforms to DECnet and back. And this is a big customer... Thank's again (in advance) - Amir Klein

My answer was more along the lines of ... try 2.2 and see if the problem goes away. As the release notes show, there were a number of threading and disconnect problems in V2.1 (I'm not sure which 2.1 you're using). We'd be more than happy to take any testcase they have and verify the problem and when or if it has been corrected. -Tim |
