Don Goguen sent this to me and asked me to post it in BB Rotis for him. I know that many have participated in past DECflea events and have enjoyed them imensley. If you are interested please respond directly to Don at "[email protected]" or to Brian Landrigan at the address listed below in Don's message. I am certain that if folks want to participate in some of the events then that would be fine also. If anyone has a problem contacting Don just let me know. Tom With opening day only 5 days away, it's time to get some commitments about our almost-annual DECflea gathering. After initially leaning towards invading Bob Moline's hometown of Rochester NY, circumstances have led us to heading back to (or staying in) New England. It's Rochester or bust for '98!! Finding an extended weekend when the Lowell Spinners (NY-Penn League -- low A ball), Portland Sea Dogs (Eastern League -- AA), and Boston Red Sox were all home wasn't easy, but there are two prime candidates: Wednesday, June 25 thru Sunday, June 29 Wednesday, August 13 thru Sunday, August 17 Here's the proposed itinerary: WED: out-of-towers arrive attend Lowell game at night (7pm start) THU: DECflea Invitational Tournament, hopefully at Overlook in Hollis NH (we hope to get some current DEC rotis duffers out there too) another Spinners game in the evening drive to Portland ME after the game, arrive in time for SportsCenter FRI: find a course in the Portland area (Ken??) attend Sea Dogs game (7pm) SAT: drive to Boston lunch -- No Name? Fanueil Hall?? ... BoSox game (5pm start) -- I believe they play DET (Jun) or MIN (Aug) disperse, find a sports bar, whatever... SUN: head home Please let me or Brian Landrigan ([email protected]) know by Monday, April 14th if you intend to join us. Heck, you'll pretty much have your taxes done by then, so that should help... Tell us: - if you can make the June or August dates (one, both, neither) - which you'd prefer... - how much you'll partake and what you need: - motel for Wed night? - golf Thu and/or Fri? - motel in Portland Thu & Fri nights? - Sox ticket for Sat? - place to stay for Sat night? Ken, can you suggest a Motel 6 or equivalent (that has ESPN) and a course to play in the Portland area? Talk to Brian... Let's get this done! I'm looking forward to the time off already... -- Don P.S. From: US5RMC::"[email protected]" "Don Goguen" 31-MAR-1997 09:17:32.93 To: distribution:;@us5rmc.imc.das.dec.com (see end of body) CC: Subj: follow-up... Just a quick follow up on the DECflea info. I've started a spreadsheet to track who'll be doing what, so to help us plan the trip appropriately (game tickets, tee times, motel requirements), please reply ASAP (by 4/14) specifically concerning each of the following: - preferred week (Jun 25-28 or Aug 13-16) (don't let the fact that I'd strongly prefer June sway you :) WED: - Spinners game - motel (roommate?) THU: - golf (Overlook?) - Spinners game - coming to Portland - motel (roommate?) FRI: - golf (Portland course) - Sea Dogs game - motel (roommate?) SAT: - Sox game - motel (roommate? where?) A "yes to all" will imply everything (except, of course, a motel room Wed & Sat if you live in New England).
