2467.0. "HP UNIX version 10.20" by UTROP1::UTROP1::SCHOUTEN_J () Tue Apr 15 1997 03:59

A customer wants to use ObjectBroker 2.7-11 on a HP UNIX 9000 E36
    computer with HP UNIX 10.20

Is this possible? [I know it is only formally supported for 10.01, but
this is an important customer who must use 10.20 (because of other
    applications!)]

We were not able to try this ourselves, or to obtain sufficient info
from HP to know what changes between HP-UX 10.01 (which we fully tested
and support) and the higher versions of HP-UX 10.x might be affecting
the installation of ObjectBroker and its operation.

Having said that, the customer may be able to make ObjectBroker 2.7-11
installable and working on HP-UX 10.20. Before the installation, they
should make sure that the /usr/lib/X11 directory exists and contains
the .../app-defaults, .../help, and .../uid subdirectories. If not,
the customer should create any of them that are missing.

They should then attempt to install ObjectBroker. If the installation
or obbivp fails because libdld.sl or dld.sl cannot be found, or it's not
what ObjectBroker expects, then some investigation is in order. They
should see if one or more copies of libdld.sl, libdld.1 or dld.sl can be
found in /lib, /usr/lib, or other system directories. Depending on the
error messages from the ObjectBroker installation procedure or obbivp,
symbolic link making one of these libraries visible in where
ObjectBroker expects to see them might make things work.

Good luck, and please let us know of the outcome.

    Henryk
