I'm having a problem accessing a remote server from a Win95 client. The Implementation Manager, the 'obbmsho -n bigbrd' command, and my client are saying I'm not authorized to access the server. I beleive proxies are correctly set up on the remote server: Bigbrd> obb sho proxy Local User Remote User Remote Host ---------- ----------- ----------- ROGERS ROGERS BIGBRD ROGERS ROGERS BIGBRD.MLO.DEC.COM ROGERS DEFAULT WLDHRN.MLO.DEC.COM rogers default wldhrn rogers rogers wldhrn adey adey redvin adey default redvin adey adey redvin2 adey adey redvin1 adey adey adey %OBB-I-CMD_DEPREC, `Use of the keyword 'default' as a wildcard user name' is a deprecated feature and will be removed in a future release. Bigbrd> My Win95 user name is 'adey', and my computer name is 'redvin'. Any ideas? Thanks. Ken....

Try adding a proxy for the long name of the redvin.mlo.dec.com. The client side does a gethostbyname and passes that to the server.

re: Note 2426.1 by REQUE::BOWER Thanks, that fixed my problem. Is this documented anywhere? I couldn't find it! I spent two days trying to figure out why my client wasn't working under Win95 (while it was working under NT 4.0). Ken....

In 2.7, we added some functionality to log the failures better in the agent log. I will check to see where it is documented and if not, enter a ptr. |
