605.0. "1948 Red Sox Baseball" by STOWOA::TRAINOR () Fri Nov 12 1993 16:10

    I am looking for a dealer that has a good reputation and could appraise
    a baseball I have from the 1948 Red Sox.  The year is my guess, but 
    since it was given to my father in the VA hospital before he died in 
    1949, it can't be any older that that.
    
    The "sweet spot" has two signature in it (Ted Williams and Joe
    McCarthy) while the rest carries ledgible signatures of Billy Goodman,
    Birdie Tibbets, and others.
    
    This would not be for sale since I want to give it to my 10-year old
    son when he is older, but if it has any value other than (sentimental
    to me) I should include it in the house insurance.
