579.0. "Cards at Aug 26 auction." by REMACP::RICHARDSON () Tue Aug 24 1993 14:07

    This comes from an Antiques paper I recieve weekly. About half of the
    auction is NON-SPORT Ephremera (paper collectibles), but this is what
    is listed under BASEBALL & SPORTS. Collectors compete with dealers here,
    so there is always a good chance for the collector to get something
    very reasonable. This is an add you most likely will not find in the
    local paper, but may be worth checking out. I added some detail to
    items not mentioned in the add, I talked to the auctioneer earlier
    about some other unrelated things he is going to sell...

    Are you going ? There are a couple of items that I would be interested
    in submitting bids on (not cards, but the bats and gloves). Even from
    way out here (Seattle), there might be a way we can work something
    out....

579.2Wont be going - but...REMACP::RICHARDSONThu Aug 26 1993 15:007
    No, unfortunatly, I cant make it tonight. I previewed the stuff
    earlier (than the listed preview time). I kind of glanced at the
    sports stuff, not with any real detail. You could try calling the
    auctioneer and asking him details - I've been going to his auctions for
    years, he's pretty reliable.

    re: .4,

    I just got in to catch up on things...

    I subscribe to a weekly *newspaper*, about the size of the Boston
    Herald, called "Antiques & the Arts Weekly", or- in the collectors
    circle - "The Newtown Bee". Printed in Newtown, CT. This paper
    lists weekly antiques auctions, mostly New England, but across the
    country as well. Many of them have cards of some sort or another.
    I went to a *paper* auction last night in Auburn that had quite a
    few 'clean' boxing/pool/golf cards from Tobacco (1900's), early BB
    books, photo's, autographed boxing photo's, etc... this stuff is
    at auctions all the time. I see several advertised weekly...

    I dont have a copy with me to give you the address/subscription rate,
    I'll add that later. But to answer your question about his mailing list-
    I looked up his name in the Worcester Phone Book.
