515.0. "If I had only known......." by EMDS::MACFARLANE () Fri Dec 18 1992 11:56

    Back in 1973, I received this pricelist from "The Card Collectors
    Company". I used to order cards from this company, unfortunately in
    small amounts. I also have their yearly mailers they sent out in
    January of each year where you could order almost anything. The list
    below was an "insert" with the mailer. Read this a weep!

    DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT OFFERING THESE ITEMS FOR SALE AT THESE, OR ANY
    PRICE. THIS IS JUST FOR EVERYONE'S READING ENJOYMENT.

515.1One for the Wholesalers!!!!!!!!SONATA::KELLYFri Dec 18 1992 13:016
    Thaks Pat. I wonder if the defender of the collectors will remember
    that he said that the Card Collecters Company was ripping off the true
    collector and that offering new cards in lots wasn't collecting
    amd that there were too mang 58 Musials printed anyway and that Topps
    didn't care and on and on and on...........
    Merry Christmas

    What are you talking about ?

    Too many Phil Plantiers and Ellis Burks to unload ? ;-)

    Anyway, I know what you mean Pat. I've looked in old sports magazines
    and seen ads for 1968 or 1969 Topps sets for 12$. I remember back in
    the early 80's before all the crooked dealers and investors came in
    and ruined the hobby (it's a business now) you could still pick up
    stuff fairly cheap.

    I still enjoy collecting though. At least I don't have to worry about
    having purchased 10,000 cards of some potential rookie who doesn't
    pan out.

515.3Lots of Fun!!POWDML::GASPARONITue Dec 22 1992 08:129
    Hey, those ads are fun to read. Boy, did that guy have good buys. If
    we had only known. I can't believe the prices on the 1989 DR sets, how
    those years cards have DROPPED! WHY? $5 bucks for a whole set. The
    market is falling through the floor.

    Anyway, I hope all you guys have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy
    New Year, (lets hope we are all still around for the New Year).

    	Rick
