1992-93 Fleer Ultra *Hockey*:

The last I heard, Fleer was attempting to get a Hockey license.
Apparently, they were successful...
Fleer has announced it's 1992-93 Fleer Ultra Hockey Premier Edition Set.
It will have 250 cards in the basic set, with *40* RILE cards in 4 RILE
sub-sets. Again, if you've seen Ultra Baseball or Football, you've seen
the basic Ultra Hockey design. (The promo I saw was a Roenick promo.)
The RILE subsets will consist of 8 Ultra Rookies, 12 Ultra All-Stars, 10
Award Winners and a 10 card "Performance Highlights" series of Jeremy
Roenick. (I'd woof, but the 'hawk's ain't worth woofin' about... :-)
There will be more than 2,000 cards personally signed by Roenick.
The cards will come 14 cards per pack, 36 packs per box, 20 boxes per
case. These should be around the price of Ultra Football, around $1.75
to $2.00 a pack, $60 a box. (However, Ultra Football is already going
for close to cost at shows. I've heard $45 a box.)
Like all other Ultra sets, there will *not* be a factory set. Shipments
will begin in late November, and may take up to six weeks for everyone
to get it.
And yes, there will be a Lindros, card #157.
(Interestingly enough, there will *not* be a Fleer Hockey set. Only an
Ultra set. Apparently Fleer only got the license in time to do one set.
Given the choice, they opted for the Ultra set.)

| I saw the cards yesterday the front was nice but I didn't really care
for the back. The Lindros card and the Jeneau card were at the
dealers for $8 each (whoops that Juneau, sorry)!
The subset of Jeremy Roenick looked nice.

| Funny. Saw them at a show last week in Burlington. First show with
them I guess. One table wanted $25 for Lindros. Next aisle had it
for $8. I didn't buy either, I'd only get the Redwings/Juneau/Oates/
Puppa out of them...

| I bought a box last night and I think that I lucked out. I put 1 set
togeather,and I'm about 20 cards short for set 2. I got 9 all/stars
and 5 rookies,i didn't see any of the Jeremy cards,I like the idea of
sending in 10 proofs of purcahse and $1.00 instead of $2.00,your right
about them looking just like the Football,and Baseball,at least you
won't go blind reading the numbers on the back of the card,they are
very legible,about the Football cards,the guy that designed the colors
and the type of numbers to use must of been (stiff),too many cocktails
for lunch that day ;-),outside of that,I like the cards.
I almost forgot,I got 3 Lindros,3 Jager,3 Federov's,2 Juneaus,3
Hull's and 3 Gretzky's..........

| Nice box John. I haven't heard of anyone even coming close to
that many inserts. On top of that 3 Lindros'! Not bad at all.
I opened 3 boxes and never saw 3 in a box.

Consider that a GREAT BOX!
I opened a box, got 5 inserts, all All Stars, 2 Juneau's but di get 3
Lindros's.
A friend of mine opened a box, got 4 inserts and only Lindros.

| Guess what? Fleer Ultra Hockey is going to have a second series!
Surprise.....
Yes, Fleer Ultra Hockey II order forms hit the dealers today. No
Lindros or Juneau cards but 2 Selanne's. A regular card and he is part
of a 25 card "Import" Stars insert set along with Bure, Jagr, Fetisov,
ect.... All are European or Russian stars/rookies.
Dealer cost is $805. per case. I can buy up to 10 boxes for $46.50 a box.
If anyone wants one send mail. QETOO::Hayes.

| The boxes came in yesterday. I opened one last night. I got 3
Selanne's and I assume I'll be able to make 2 sets from the box.
For inserts I got 8 of the 25 "Import Stars". I didn't mind the
title when I got a Selanne INsert but getting Ulf (cheap shot)
Samuelson as a star. That's reaching! Interesting design,
the player is in front of a globe. The backs also feature the
globe in the background. Don't know if I like them yet but
they are different. I picked up 2 others from the dealer.
Only 15 more to go..........
