483.1 | IMHO... | ICS::LERRA | | Fri Oct 02 1992 12:00 | 8 |
| To borrow a phrase I first read from our old friend RJK...
IMHO...Paul Molitor, Tony Gwynn, and don't laugh...Vince Coleman are
players who I feel are 'undervalued'. If you could eliminate the INANE
prices people are willing to pay for an UD Griffey Jr, or a LEAF Thomas
rc...these two could also be added to my list.

483.2 | Jack Morris | FUTURE::JST_ONGE | John St.Onge USDSL DTN 275-2715 | Fri Oct 02 1992 13:19 | 4 |
| I don't know what Jack Morris cards go for, but he's probably a decent
value still with a good chance of going in the Hall.

483.3 | Incredibly low price | A1VAX::BARTH | Shun the frumious Bandersnatch | Fri Oct 02 1992 14:13 | 9 |
| Jack's '78 Topps RC is listed at $15.00 in the Oct Beckett.
You're right, that's remarkable. Especially right next to Molitor's
RC at $50.00 in the same set. Of course, Trammell is on the same card
as Molitor so that probably has some bearing on the price.
Still, Morris seems mighty cheap at 15.00.

| Jim Gilliam's second year card is still relatively cheap. It won't make
you a fortune, but considering the player he was, it's under valued.

483.6 | My favorite topic | SONATA::KELLY | | Tue Oct 20 1992 13:02 | 28 |
| this is my favorite topic. There are lots of players that are
seriously undervalued. Morris is one of them-No pitcher has won
more games than he has in the past 13 years. Winfield is
a can't miss not only is he within 130 hits of 3000, he is within
15 home runs of 500 !!!! Trammell, Yount, Brett, Whitaker ( did you
know he has the highest lifetime batting average with runners
in scoring position - Thats all time highest), Carter G.,
Murray, Murphy, Gwynn, Ripken, Boggs, Clemens, Eck ( did you know
he could easily end his career with 400 saves and 200 wins!!! )
Fisk I think they are obvious choices.
My feeling is that there are some guys on the bubble-
Coleman, Righetti, Valenzuela, Joe Carter, Evans, Mattingly
Sandberg, Lansford, McGee, McGwire, Canseco.
Here are three super cheap investments for guys who could make it
BOB BOONE-Stll priced under two bucks and is second or third in most
categories all time as a catcher.
RUSTY STAUB-Look at the HOMERS
DARYL EVANS-Look at all of the numbers.
There is one guy that I just can't talk about that is a probable
he was the Red Sox First Baseman in 1986. God I hate him!!!!!!!!
Is Jim Kaat in the hall?

Nope Jim Kaat is not in the hall. Don't forget Jim Rice who has an
outside shot at making the Hall.

| Joe, that was really nasty. I'm not sur where you are located -
in case it isn't in the Boston Area there is a local radio program
that plays the radio replay of the hit - it starts "a little roller
along first"............AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
It kills me every time.
"it gets behind the bag....................................
YOWELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
its between buckners legs
METS WIN
I'm still depressed six years later....
CBS now has the aggies to show this video replay to warm us up
for the series.

I live in Dallas, Tx. Was the only person rooting for the Mets when
they played the 'stros in the playoffs.
I do think Buckner has a bad rap because of one error. he did have a
pretty good career.

483.12 | Fleer Predicts Error | SONATA::KELLY | | Wed Oct 21 1992 13:06 | 12 |
| re.11
If you are supersticious or believe in fate spend the time
to dig up the Buckner from 85 Fleer-Its an action shot with him
trying to catch a ground ball. The ball is actually in front of him,
but the perspective makes it look like the ball is between his legs,
behind him is the end of the tube that is used to roll up the tarp.
It's kind of funny in a weird/sick sorta way.
Bye the way I like Mookie, and Bucky Dent-They cost us a trip
to the show by doing their jobs-so I can't hate them. I HATE
Buckner even with his 2700+ base hits.
No more of this I'm feeling ill.

I thought the tarp shot with Buckner was his 1990 or 1991 UD card.
