429.0. "Ballpark Post Cards" by FUTURE::JST_ONGE (John St.Onge USDSL DTN 275-2715) Thu May 07 1992 07:22

    Since I subscribe to SCD I get a lot of offers, freebies etc. in the
    mail. Recently I received an offer from Bill Goff Inc. who commissions
    artists to make paintings/lithographs of baseball stadiums (past and
    present). These things are pretty pricey, but there was an offer for
    a set of 47 postcards of the lithographs they had done in the past for
    25$. I've received a couple of the samples in the past so I called up
    and ordered a set and they came two days later. Very nice collectible.
    I wish there was some way of displaying them. Some are post card size,
    but most of them are about twice as long as a regular post card.

    Anyway, a nice pickup for 25$, especially if you like ballparks.

429.1Lithographs are collectable tooSUBWAY::FERRESThu May 07 1992 08:598

    I have 3 of the lithographs, too. If you're a stadium fan,
    you'll like them, and may consider it "worth" buying and
    framing. Whether or not they are good investments, only time
    will tell ...

    Yes, I believe there's a few in there. One was called Forbes Field
    Matinee I believe. They didn't do all stadiums / ballparks, but
    there were some like Forbes, Shibe, Crosley Field, Ebbets, Polo
    Grounds, Sportmans Park. There were 4 or 5 of both Fenway Park and
    Yankee Stadium.

    Once you send your 25 dollars, you get on the mailing list. Also the
    tunaround time is very quick. About a week to 10 days. I have received
    approx 10 more postcars of new lithographs sin ordering the original
    set. My favorite is Bobby Thompson's "Shot heard 'round the world" in
    the 51 playoffs.

429.7supposedly they are a good investment tooAIMHI::GILLISWebb Wilder:Idol of Idle YouthTue Aug 11 1992 17:449
    Update: The current set of postcards is up to 54 and can be had for
    $30. This $30 is also put toward the purchase of any one of the
    lithographs within 12 months. Even if you don't order a lithograph
    --which I agree are pretty pricey, anywhere from $120 to $500 for
    sold out/second market lithos--I think the postcards alone are worth
    the price.  Very nice.
