401.0. "Baseball Card Posters (GEO Graphics)" by CERBUS::KARLSON (Only 298 shopping days until Xmas!) Mon Mar 02 1992 14:04

Don't know how many of you get SCD. Some of you who do may have seen
a small article in the Warren Spahn issue on baseball card posters.

    FYI:

"GEO Graphics has increased its Baseball Card Poster line for 1992.

The 24-inch x 36-inch color images replicate baseball cards from the
     mid-1950's.

Each poster features one player and consists of two original colorzied
photgraphs, the player's name, position, team name, team logo, and a
     replica of his signature.

The posters, which are priced at $25, are printed on baseball card
stock. GEO Graphics currently offers 47 posters, which feature the
most popular past and current players.

For more information, call 1-800-WERE-GEO, or write to: GEO Graphics
4117 W. Jefferson Blvd., Los Angeles Calif. 90016.
    "

I talked with a guy from (Hank Gallant, 1-800-937-3436) there. And
I've spoken with a few people who have seen these in person, and they
are supposed to be VERY nice.

They have created paintings of these players, using a 1954 or 1955
Topps baseball card motif, and have reproduced 2x3 foot lithographs
    on THICK stock.

Some of you might have seen enlarged baseball cards at shows, you
know the ones, where you can see the dots, because the print has
been enlarged so much from a real baseball card? These are NOT those.

Currently they have 42 players in stock. Their inventory ran mostly
to the current players (Justice, Canseco, Clemens, Frank Thomas),
but with a lot HOF'ers (sorry John -- no Koufax. They have the
painting of Koufax, but he has yet to sign the contract to allow
them to reproduce -- supposedly loves the artwork).

These are all $25 each, plus eact freight. I have some promotional
information being mailed to me, which will include a full list of
available players (which I will post when I get it).

A few of the players are available in limited edition, autographed
versions (1,000 editions, 2,500 for Nolan Ryan).

Some of the names that stuck off the top of my head ...

Aaron, Aparacio, Clemente, Gehrig, Killebrew, Drysdale, Seaver,
Clemens, Justice, Canseco, Frank Thomas, Mantle, Mantle/Maris
("Bronx Bombers"), Jackie Robinson, Yaz, Babe Ruth ...

Are these the GEO Graphics lithos, or are these the blown up
    baseball card posters?

Any directions (Rt. 2?) to Butler's Store?

401.5No Mantle Card in 1954 or 1955IAMOK::GASPARONIThu Mar 19 1992 14:285
I would like to know what 1955 or 1954 card they are using for the
mantle, since Topps didn't issue one for him in those two years?

I've seen a 1958 Topps card blown-up into one of those posters, so I'm
wondering if they would use that year.
