Can someone provide additional information on 1981 TCMA football cards. I want to know how were they distributed? Was it regionally done? Are they promotional cards for bread or some other product like McDonald cards? Any additional information will help. Here's what the latest Becketts Book #8 says: "This 78-card set was put out by TCMA in 1981. The set features retired football players from the '50s and '60s. The cards are standard size, 1 1/2 by 3 1/2 and are in the popular "pure card" format where there is nothing on the card front except the color photo of the subject inside a simple white border. The card backs provide a short narrative written in black ink on white card stock. The cards are numbered on the back at the top inside a football and the TCMA copyright is located in the lower right corner." Thanks.....Live from Charger Central.......Glenn

Well I have some additional information on these TCMA cards . There were 2 variations; numbered and unnumbered. I found Dickie Post both numbered and unnumbered and a Lance Alworth numbered. The unnumbered cards appear to be rather difficult to find. The cards are relatively cheap for their scarcity, I paid about $3.00 each. If you're interested in getting TCMA cards, I know the name and number of a guy who has them and just send mail to me. Glenn | |||||

Well, I have ADDITIONAL information on these TCMA's. Apparently, though this is undocumented, the unnumbered variation didn't apply to all the TCMA cards. In other words, it's incorrect to assume that because there's a numbered version of a card, say Lance Alworth, then there's an unnumbered version of that card. I know you all are probably saying "Who gives a damn" but I endeavor to provide accurate information. Live from Charger Central.......Glenn |
