The Negro League Association (I'm not sure of the exact name or
acronym of their alumni association) recently (in conjunction
with Ron Lewis the artist) came out with a limited edition set
of Postcards.
10,000 is the edition size, and it will be issued in series. 30
post cards per series.
These are very nice. Some of Ron Lewis' work leaves a lot to be
desired, some of it is very nice. This set is on the very nice
side.
Unfortunately I'm not sure of the last time I saw an ad for them
in SCD. Next time I come across information, I'll post it.
Uniform jerseys -- originals -- will cost you MANY MANY MANY bucks.
Repros are being done by some of the finer uniform reproduction
companies (maybe even the HOF -- I'm sure they can point you some-
where if they don't handle these repros. I know they handle a few
repros of MLB unis), but a repro jersey from these places usually
runs around $200-250.
Caps are available for around $25. Same as unis.
Will post more as I find it. I know I have some information on
this somewhere at home.

368.2 | Repro caps and uniforms | TOLKIN::CHOY | | Thu Dec 19 1991 13:37 | 16 |
| I have a catalog somewhere at home from a place in Seattle that
specializes in reproduction caps and uniforms of old and/or defunct
teams from the minor leagues, Federal League and negro league.
Caps were $25-44, uniforms were $150+. There were also team jackets.
It's pretty cool looking at the items. You can customize the uniform
by selecting the number of your choice, assuming numbers were used for
that team and time period. A sample of teams: Seattle Raniers, Hawaii
Islanders, San Francisco Seals from the PCL, Birmingham Black Barons,
K.C. Monarchs from the Negro leagues plus San Antonio Missions, Durham
Bulls and more!
I think the company is called Ebbets Field Flannels. The caps are
probably available in Boston at Frontiers (on Newbury St.) and at Twins
near Fenway (Negro league only). I haven't been to Frontiers. The
uniforms may be in stock as well. I'll post the name and address for
sure when I find the catalog.

Was that company featured in Sports Illustrated a while back ?
I believe they like to use real flannel and wool (in keeping with the
time period) right ?
Suppose I'm shooting for something a little less expensive ?

| I don't know if they were in SI since I only read it sporadically.
They do use real flannel and wool but the prices are not as outrageous
as you may think. For example, modern replica jerseys (Diamond
Collection) run around $100. Those are all double knit. The flannel
replicas run $150-$200. Once I dig up the phone number, give them a
call and you can get a catalog for free. There is a place in Philly
that does replica major league jerseys. Their catalog cost $5 but they
make anything that you want since it is all custom. I think they make
all the "Turn back the clock" game jerseys but they use double knit
instead of flannel for those. Maybe that's the one that was in SI.

| Hey Doc M -
I finally found that catalog. The name and info of the place with
wearables from the Federal League, Negro Leagues, PCL, The
International League, American Assication and few extras is:
Ebbetts Field Flannels
PO Box 19865
Seattle, WA 98109
(206) 284-4473
While some jerseys are as low as $130, some caps are $44. The catalog
is free.
The other company that does reproductions of MLB uniforms is:
Mitchell and Ness
1229 Walnut St.
Philadelphia, PA 19107
(215) 592-6512
Their catalog is $5. I do not have one but I've heard it is a nice
publication in and of itself.
Have fun.
